Where to Find Rare Pals
Last updated: May 2024 · 12 min read · Updated for v0.4 Sakurajima
Rare Pals don't wander around like common ones — they spawn in specific locations, often as Alpha encounters, at fixed points on the map. This guide covers the exact locations for the most sought-after Pals in the game.
💡 Catching TipsAlways bring high-tier Pal Spheres (Giga or Hyper) when hunting rare Pals. Weaken them to under 20% HP for the best catch rate. If you fail, the Pal respawns after roughly 1 in-game day — fast travel away and back to reset.
Late Game / Legendary Pals
Legendary
Jetragon
Dragon Type
Beach of Everlasting Summer — the volcanic western coast of the main island. Fixed alpha spawn point near the beach.
Bring Ice-type Pals. Jetragon hits incredibly hard — stay mobile and chip away at its HP slowly.
Level50
Legendary
Frostallion
Ice Type
Land of Absolute Zero — the far northern ice region. Roams a large area near the center of the snow biome.
Bring Fire-type Pals and heat-resistant armor. The cold environment deals constant HP damage without protection.
Level48
Legendary
Necromus
Dark Type
Deep darkness area in the northeastern region. Spawns as a fixed alpha alongside Paladius.
Both Necromus and Paladius spawn together — consider catching both in the same visit.
Level50
Mid-Late Game Rare Pals
Rare
Anubis
Ground Type
Dessicated Desert — wanders the desert region at night. Also found inside the Cavern of the Dunes dungeon as a rare spawn.
Easier to get via breeding (Penking + Bushi). Wild Anubis rarely have good passive skills.
Level30–40
Rare
Shadowbeak
Dark Type
Wildlife Sanctuary No.3 — the third protected island. Trespassing triggers wanted level but the rare Pals here are worth it.
Enter at night for reduced visibility. Bring a flying mount to escape quickly if guards become a problem.
Level45+
Rare
Grizzbolt
Electric Type
Wildlife Sanctuary No.1 — the first protected island southeast of the starting area. Also available after defeating Zoe & Grizzbolt Tower Boss.
Ground-type Pals deal super effective damage. Great base worker with Generating Electricity Lv3.

General Tips for Catching Rare Pals
- Save before attempting — on console or PC you can reload if the catch fails.
- Use status effects — Sleeping or Frozen Pals have significantly higher catch rates.
- Charged throw — hold the throw button to fully charge a Pal Sphere for a bonus to catch rate.
- Reduce HP carefully — use weaker attacks or punch with your fists when the Pal is almost down.
